Charitable Involvements
Eric considers community involvement extremely important. He recounts his immigration from South Africa to Canada and how he and his family brought this value with them.
When the Inspektor family arrived in Canada, they found that one of the things they missed greatly was their community relationships that they had formed back home. Eric began building new relationships and became involved with Starlight Children’s Foundation. There, he organized a golf tournament called “Friends of Starlight” which raised over $150,000 over a 3 year period.
Passionate about Jewish causes, Eric also became a supporter of the Jewish National Fund. He and his family funded the building of a playground for handicapped and underprivileged children in Israel and chaired a committee for the restoration of the wall in Jerusalem.
For Eric Inspektor, giving back not only helps others but he enjoys doing it apart from anything else.

When looking at restructuring a business, Eric says it is always important to consider every possible alternative, for instance:
- Sell off a division or bring in a partner,
- Split the funding requirements between different lenders - mortgage for the real estate, factoring for the receivables, equipment leasing for the assets, etc.
Some of Eric Inspektor’s most notable deals include:
- Providing a credit enhancement guarantee for a funding structure to replace a 1st mortgage on a strip mall in Toronto to repay Barclays Bank when they exited Canada during the 1990 real estate crisis.
- Acquiring an auto leasing company in 2005. The portfolio at the time of acquisition was 200 vehicles and $1.8 million. Eric arranged funding and grew the portfolio to 3,000 plus vehicles and $32 million.
- Recently assisted the owners of a development site in Ottawa to exit from a bad joint venture agreement; assisted in selling the property to a strong buyer for fair market value, repaying all debt and recovering some equity. Without this structure the property would have sold for 70% of FMV.
